What Are Duct Smoke Detectors And Why Do I Need Them? 

Duct smoke detectors are an important part of any fire safety system, especially in large commercial or industrial buildings. These specialized smoke detectors are installed inside air handler units (AHUs) and are designed to detect the presence of smoke or combustion products in the air ducts. If a duct smoke detector is activated it will trigger a shunt relay that will stop the AHU from running, so that the AHU does not spread smoke throughout the building or feed air to the fire.
